Graduate Student Positions

We welcome inquiries from motivated students interested in electrochemistry and related research areas.

Prospective M.Sc. and Ph.D. students must submit a formal application through the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Alberta. Details regarding admission requirements, application procedures, and deadlines are available on the department’s graduate studies website.

Students interested in joining the group are encouraged to contact Prof. Ren before submitting their formal application. Please include the following materials in your email:

  • A brief introduction describing your research background and interests
  • A short explanation of how your experience and goals align with the group’s research
  • An up-to-date CV
  • Unofficial academic transcripts
  • Representative publications, presentations, or other research outputs, if available
  • Names and contact information for at least two academic references, particularly for Ph.D. applicants

Undergraduate Student Positions

Undergraduate students interested in research courses, co-op placements, summer projects, or other research opportunities are welcome to contact Prof. Ren.

  • Relevant coursework, laboratory skills, or research experience
  • Your expected availability
  • A current CV
  • An unofficial academic transcript
